Jenkin Breaks Career Scoring Record
Severna Park's Jenkin Breaks Record with Three Goals, Assist in 12-5 Win at Cedar Crest
ALLENTOWN, (Pa.) -- Senior attack and co-captain Sandy Jenkin of Millersville, Md. (Severna Park High School) broke the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse career scoring record with three goals and an assist in her team's 12-5 non-conference win at Cedar Crest Monday.
A Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star in each of her first three seasons at Susquehanna, Jenkin is the team's starting third home and now has 85 goals and 21 assists for 106 career points, breaking the old record of 103 by Cheryl Irvine from 1993-96. The team's scoring leader this season with 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points to rank sixth in the MAC (4.0 ppg), Jenkin has also broken the school record for career assists this season, and is second in career goals (Record: 94, Irvine, 1993-96).
"Sandy's our go-to player offensively and been a real leader for us. She's been a consistent scorer throughout her career, and this record certainly proves that. We're very happy for her," said second-year Susquehanna head coach Gina Lucido.
Also a four-year letterwinner and two-year tri-captain on the women's basketball team, Jenkin is the daughter of Joan and Roger Jenkin of Millersville.
Jenkin led Susquehanna to the program's first winning season in its nine-year varsity history last season - finishing 9-7 while making the inaugural MAC Championship Game. The Crusaders are presently 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the MAC - with their only loss coming in Baltimore at Goucher, 10-7, last Saturday.
Susquehanna is next in action Wednesday, March 31, playing its home opener against MAC rival King's beginning at 4 p.m.
