Swope Makes MAC Mark

Pennridge's Swope Earns Conference Women's Lax Player of the Week Honors

SELINSGROVE, (Pa.) - Susquehanna University senior goalkeeper Jen Swope of Perkasie (Pennridge High School) is this week's Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week as she helped her team win both of its games last week, including a 16-6 decision at Widener last Saturday in its conference opener.

Swope had her best week of the young season last week, giving up just 14 goals while making 24 saves for a 7.00 goals-against average and .632 save percentage. She made 11 saves while yielding just three goals in each half of Saturday's win at Widener.

For the season, Swope is third in the MAC in goals-against average (now 8.60), ranking seventh in conference save percentage (now .488). She has played 16 career games as a goalkeeper and has a 9.04 goals-against clip and .500 save percentage lifetime at Susquehanna.

"This honor (MAC Player of the Week) is a great indicator of just how far Jen has come in two years. It's nice to see her hard work pay off," said second-year Susquehanna head coach Gina Lucido, who was a standout athlete at nearby Emmaus High School before going on to be a field hockey All-American at Ball State University. "It's a great accomplishment for her and we're pleased with the award."

A biochemistry major, she is the daughter of Randy and Susan Swope.

Susquehanna is presently 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the MAC. The defending MAC runner-ups, the Crusaders will next be in action Wednesday, March 31, playing its home opener against MAC rival King's beginning at 4 p.m.
