SUSQUEHANNA NAMES NEW SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Jim Miller has been named sports information director at Susquehanna University, effective Monday, July 17. He replaces Michael Ferlazzo who left the university in June to become senior news service manager for Dick Jones Communications in State College. Miller comes to Susquehanna from Lebanon Valley College where he served as interim sports information director since November 1999.

At Lebanon Valley, Miller directed a comprehensive program involving 23 intercollegiate sports teams. Like Susquehanna, the college belongs to the Division III Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League. From 1997 to 1999, Miller served as assistant to the executive director of the Middle Atlantic Conference. His primary responsibilities included statistical reporting to member colleges, news media and the National Collegiate Athletic Association; producing sports publications and maintaining the conference Web site; and coordinating nominations and ballots for All-Star and All-Academic teams. During the 1996-1997 academic year, Miller held a full-time internship in the sports information office of the University of Delaware where he was the primary media contact for five intercollegiate sports and helped coordinate media activities for America East Conference men's basketball, baseball and women's lacrosse championships.

Miller is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he earned the bachelor of humanities in communications.
