Kern Honored by Columbus Multimedia

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna University senior center Karyn Kern (Brodheadsville, Pa./Pleasant Valley H.S.) has been named the Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Basketball Player of the Week by Columbus Multimedia after averaging 19.5 points and 16.0 rebounds in a pair of Crusader victories during the week ending December 10.

Kern, who leads the Crusaders in scoring at 16.9 points per game and leads the conference in rebounding at 11.9 boards per contest, scored a season-high 25 points and pulled 14 rebounds in Susquehanna's 64-52 win over Moravian last Wednesday. On Saturday, she tallied 14 points with a season-high 18 boards as the Crusaders knocked off defending MAC champion Allentown by a 67-65 score.

Kern has posted five double-doubles in seven games this season and a total of 47 in her career. She is just 24 points shy of becoming the fourth player in Susquehanna women's basketball history to record 1,500 points and she needs 21 rebounds to become the third Crusader to reach the 900 mark.

Susquehanna (6-1 overall, 2-1 Commonwealth Conference) will be in action on Friday-Saturday, December 29-30 at the Lutheran Brotherhood Tournament on the campus of California Lutheran University.
