SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Saturday's men's and women's basketball doubleheader at Widener will be the first Susquehanna University games of the 2000-2001 season to be aired live on WQSU-FM (88.9), Susquehanna's 12,000-watt student radio station. In addition, the entire regular-season schedule, both home and away, can be heard for the third straight year over the telephone via TEAMLINE from TRZ Sports Services.
WQSU will broadcast 11 men's and 11 women's regular-season games, including a pair of women's games from the Lutheran Brotherhood Tournament at California Lutheran on December 29-30. Basketball coverage begins 30 minutes before tip-off of the selected games with a special basketball edition of "The Coaches' Corner" aired before going to the site.
The basketball edition of "The Coaches' Corner" will feature interviews with both Susquehanna men's basketball head coach Frank Marcinek and women's head coach Mark Hribar. During each broadcast, a Susquehanna player will be honored as the Basket Gourmet and WQSU-FM Crusader Basketball Player of the Week.
Veteran area sport broadcaster/journalist Jack Burns of Mifflinburg will team up with senior broadcasting major Jim Wagner, WQSU Sports Director and senior public relations major Bill Thomas and junior communications major Deb Stettler to provide all the live play-by-play basketball action. Both Wagner and Thomas will produce The Coaches' Corner, which will be hosted by Wagner.
