BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The four Landmark Conference institutions sponsoring golf gathered at the Saucon Valley Country Club for a tournament Saturday, and Susquehanna University took top team and individual honors.
The Crusaders finished with a team score of 328, 17 strokes ahead of second-place Scranton. Moravian was one stroke behind the Royals in third.
Pat Serfass (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) was the top individual finisher with a 74, one of only two golfers to finish below 80. Scott Cruff's (Newington, Conn./Newington) 82 was good for third place.
Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) was next with an 84, followed by Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Central Catholic) with an 88. Zach Prowant (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) rounded out the Crusader card with a 94.
April 17: Crusaders take second in own invitational Results
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna University men's golf team finished second in its own Spring Invitational Thursday, tallying a 312. Muhlenberg took the team title with a 308. The Susquehanna B team took 10th with a collective 332.
Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) led the Crusaders with a 76 for the day, followed by Scott Cruff (Newington, Conn./Newington) with a 77.
Adam Puskar (Whitehall, Pa./Central Catholic), playing for the B team, had the third-best Crusader round with a 78. Pat Serfass (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) shot a 79, while Zach Prowant (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) and Mike Schwenk (Miller Place, N.Y./Stony Brook) rounded out the A team card with 80s.
The B team had a strong showing, as Bhrett Long (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) carded an 84 and Ryan Redfern (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) and Philip Zuhusky (Norwood, N.J./Northern Valley Reg. at Old Tappan) each shot 85. Billy Toy (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia) tallied a 90.
April 10: Crusaders win Blue Jay Classic with record score Results
HERSHEY, Pa. - The Susquehanna University men's golf team won Elizabethown College's Spring Blue Jay Classic with a school-record score of 290. The Crusaders finished 15 strokes ahead of second-place Franklin and Marshal.
Pat Serfass (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) took medalist honors, shooting a 70 on the day. Scott Cruff (Newington, Conn./Newington) was just one shot behind with a 71.
Zach Prowant (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock)and Nicholas Paone (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) were also neck-and-neck, carding a 74 and 75, respectively. Mike Schwenk (Miller Place, N.Y./Stony Brook) rounded out the Crusader scoring with a 78.
April 6-7: Crusaders seventh at Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational Results
HERSHEY, Pa. - The Susquehanna University men's golf team finished seventh out of 15 teams at the Mid-Atlantic Region Invitational, a two-day tournament held in Hershey, Pa. The Crusaders shot 633 over the two days, just one stroke off of sixth-place Franklin and Marshall and two off of fifth-place Carnegie Mellon.
Scott Cruff (Newington, Conn./Newington) led the Crusaders with a 17th-place finish. He shot 78 Sunday and 77 Monday for a two-day total of 155. Pat Serfass (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) was two strokes off Cruff's total, shooting 157 to finish 22nd.
Zach Prowant (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) tied for 30th with a 160, and Nicholas Paone's (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) 161 put him in a tie for 34th. Mike Schwenk (Miller Place, N.Y./Stony Brook) rounded out the Susquehanna scoring with a 171, good for a 64th-place tie.
March 30: Serfass first, team second at McDaniel Spring Invitational Results
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - The Susquehanna University men's golf team finished in a tie for second at the two-day McDaniel Spring Invitational, which concluded Sunday. Senior Pat Serfass (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) took first individually, three strokes ahead of the second-place finisher.
The Crusaders were second to St. John Fisher after day one of the tournament, shooting a 318. They improved by a stroke on Sunday, but a 305 locked up first place for the Cardinals. Wesley used a hot second day, shooting 325-310 for the weekend, to end up tied with Susquehanna.
Serfass shot 77 on Saturday to go into the final day tied for second, but shot a round-two 72 to take medalist honors. Junior Nicholas Paone (Peckville, PA/Valley View) improved six strokes Sunday to finish in a tie for 11th place. Scott Cruff (Newington, CT/Newington) shot 161 over the weekend to finish 17th.
Rounding out the field for Susquehanna was Zach Prowant (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock), who tied for 28th, and Adam Puskar (Whitehall, PA/Central Catholic), who tied for 45th.
March 25: Crusaders 2nd at Gettysburg Spring Invitational Results
GETTYSBURG, Pa. - On Tuesday, Susquehanna took second to McDaniel College at the Gettysburg Spring Invitational, held at The Links at Gettysburg. Senior Scott Cruff (Newington, CT/Newington) took medalist honors after shooting a 74 then winning a one-hole playoff.
The Crusaders shot 316, just six shots off McDaniel, which had the second two finishers after Cruff. The host "A" team was third with a 334.
Senior Pat Serfass (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) finished fourth after carding 77. Junior Nicholas Paone (Peckville, PA/Valley View) tied for seventh with an 81. Mike Schwenk (Miller Place, NY/Stony Brook) and Zach Prowant (Williamsport, PA/Loyalsock) finished the team scoring for Susquehanna with an 84 and 85, respectively, while freshman Alex Puskar (Whitehall, PA/Central Catholic), playing as an individual, finished tied for 13th with an 83.
