John Tom, Head Coach

John Tom enters his fifth season as head coach of the Crusader volleyball team in 2007, after guiding the squad to consecutive 20-win seasons in 2004 and 2005 - just the second time in program history that Susquehanna has won 20 or more games in back-to-back years.
In his first season in 2003, Tom led the team to a 15-13 overall record and fourth place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 4-3 league mark. He followed up in 2004 by helping the Crusaders to a 21-11 record and a berth in the Commonwealth Conference championship match against eventual national champion Juniata.
Tom is a 1978 graduate of Weatherly High School, where he lettered in football, track and field and basketball, and attended Brigham Young University where he was a member of the Cougars' club volleyball team.
He graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1982 and is currently employed as a sergeant and station commander at Selinsgrove. During the summer months, Tom coaches high school camps nationally for Gold Medal Squared Volleyball camps and clinics.
Tom was a longtime player and coach in USA Volleyball and was founder and director of the Danville Area Community Center Leagues from 1989 to 1998. He and his coaching staff continue to compete regularly in area league and tournament play. Tom and his wife, Lou Ann, have two sons and two daughters and reside in Watsontown.

Sandi Ricotta, Assistant Coach
Sandi Ricotta finished her fourth season as assistant women's volleyball coach in 2006.
She played volleyball at both DuBois Area High School and Penn State DuBois before earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from Penn State in 1997 and 1999, respectively. She was an assistant coach at Penn State DuBois during the 1999 season.
Ricotta is a process engineer at Durametal Corporation in Muncy, where she resides and participates in volleyball in local leagues and tournaments.
Dan Sigafoos, Assistant Coach
Dan Sigafoos finished his third year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Crusaders. He is a graduate of Northampton High School and a 1998 graduate of Lebanon Valley College where he earned a bachelor of science degree in Biology.
A current resident of Sunbury, Dan is active in local league and tournament volleyball and is employed by Merck and Company in Danville.
