Susquehanna Volleyball Season Wrap-Up
(Final record 11-26 overall, 1-5 conference)
SELINSGROVE , PA – The Susquehanna University Women's Volleyball team finished 11-26 overall and 1-5 in their inaugural season of Landmark Conference play, under fifth year head coach John Tom. With a team compiled of just one senior, the youthful Crusaders achieved their first win of 2007 campaign on the second day of their season at The Haverford Invitational on September 2nd against Neumann College.
Junior middle-hitter and Co-captain Ainsley Catagnus ( Reading , Pa. /Reading Central Catholic HS) earned second team Landmark Conference honors. Catagnus appeared in all 36 matches, amassing a team high of 399 kills for the season, second on the team in blocks with a total of 76, and tying for second in service aces with 27.
Seeing action in every match this season, Freshman Lindsey Jankiewicz ( Easton , Pa. /Freedom HS) statistically led all newcomers on the team this year. She was first on the team in blocks with 77, and second on the team in kills posting an impressive 383.
The Crusaders final win of the season came on October 27th at the Messiah Invitational, where they defeated Lycoming 3-0. Lone senior setter and captain Sophie Hall (Westfield, N.J./Westfield HS) wrapped up her career accumulating 3748 assists, 581 digs, 196 kills, 136 services aces, and 101 blocks in 410 games played.
