WASHINGTON, D.C. - The fourth-seeded Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team fell to top-seeded Catholic University Wednesday, 17-6, in the Landmark Conference semifinals.
Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) led the way for the Crusaders with three goals. Seniors contributed the rest of the scoring in their finale, as Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and Dana Mulvihill (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) each added a goal and Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) two assists.
Cindy Wilson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) gobbled up six ground balls to pace the team, and was also tops in draw controls with three. Deese added three ground balls and two draw controls.
Senior keeper Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) had five ground balls while making 14 saves in her final performance in net for the orange and maroon.
April 26: Crusaders send off seniors in style, clinch playoff spot Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team found the best way to honor its seven senior players Saturday - a 13-10 win over Moravian College that clinched the No. 4 seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs. The Crusaders (6-9, 2-3 Landmark) will travel to No. 1 seed Catholic on Wednesday.
Prior to the game, the team recognized its seven seniors: Elizabeth DiPaola (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central), Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown), Dana Mulvihill (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) and Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent).
It was that group that took charge of the scoring, as McGarrigle led the team with four goals and an assist. Linton scored three, one of which was a nifty scoop and flip into the net, while Devilbiss and Minuni each had one. Mulvihill contributed points with an assist.
The Crusaders also got goals from Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central), Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes), Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, Mass./Williston-Northhampton) and Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley).
Devilbiss also led the way with five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Linton and Mulvihill had four ground balls each. DiPaola had two ground balls and a caused turnover. Weiss once again went the distance in goal, making 12 saves.
April 24: Big second half keys Crusader win over King's Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - It was a tale of two halves, as the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team and King's College finished the first half knotted at eight goals apiece, but the Crusaders went on to score 15 goals in the second en route to a 23-10 win.
Susquehanna struck with the first two goals of the game, as Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) both scored unassisted within the first four minutes of play. After a King's goal, Frackowiak scored again, this time on a pass from Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes).
King's went on a four-goal run before Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) scored at 21:27, with Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) following two minutes later to tie the game back up. The Lady Monarch scored twice over the next five minutes, but Susquehanna got two goals in a minute, first from Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) to Janey Arronson (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton), then an unassisted one by McGarrigle. Cadigan scored with 59 seconds left to put the Crusaders up a goal, but King's knotted things up in the final 30 seconds.
The second half, however, was all Susquehanna, although it started inauspiciously as the two teams traded goals, McGarrigle scoring her third of the day. Then the Crusaders went on a 13-goal run, as Cadigan found the net three times, Frackowiak, McGarrigle and Arronson each scored twice, and Linton, Devilbiss, Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) and Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, Mass./Williston-Northhampton) added one apiece. Devilbiss, Linton, Deese, Frackowiak and Coffey also had assists over that span.
King's found the net one last time in the final two minutes, then Susquehanna's Kayla MacMillan (Woodstock, Conn./Hyde School) sent home a free-position shot with less than a minute to go for the 23rd goal.
Deese led the Crusaders with six ground balls, seven draw controls and four caused turnovers. Cindy Wilson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) added six ground balls as well and Linton had four.
The action stayed away from goalie Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) for most of the day, as she faced only 17 shots on goal, making seven saves. Susquehanna peppered the King's goalie with 39 shots on goal.
April 19: Drew 19, Susquehanna 10 Box Score
MADISON, N.J. - The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team suffered a 19-10 Landmark Conference loss to Drew University Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders fall to 4-9 (1-3 Landmark) on the season while the Rangers improve to 8-5 (3-1 Landmark).
Susquehanna opened the game strong tallying a 6-5 lead with 12:27 left in the first half before allowing the Rangers six unanswered goals to take an 11-8 advantage into the half.
The Crusaders were held to just two goals in the second, while permitting the Rangers eight, en route to the eventual 19-10 loss.
Senior Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) led Susquehanna with four goals, while Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) followed close behind with three. The additional goals came from senior Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Sarah Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) tallying one apiece. Devilbiss, Frackowiak, Cadigan and Dana Mulvihill (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) also added assists.
Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) made 12 saves for Susquehanna while Stef Rutkowski tallied three in goal for the Rangers for the win.
April 16: Crusaders fall to Villa Julie Box Score
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team suffered a 23-6 non-conference loss to Villa Julie College Wednesday. The Crusaders fall to 4-8 (1-2 Landmark) on the season while the Mustangs improove to 11-4 (3-4 CAC).
Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) led Susquehanna with two goals and an assist. The Crusaders got one goal apiece from Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, Mass./Williston-Northhampton), and Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes).
Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) also added a goal for the Crusaders and led the team with three draw controls won. Cindy Wilson (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) had three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) made nine saves for Susquehanna and also had six ground balls, tops on the team.
April 12: Gophers grab 3OT win from Crusaders Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – It took three overtime periods, but the Goucher College women's lacrosse team took an 11-10 win over host Susquehanna University Saturday in Landmark Conference action.The Gophers (3-8, 2-1 Landmark) got a free-position goal from Marlo Tersigni with 2:14 left in the third overtime to get the win over Susquehanna (4-7, 1-2 Landmark).
The Crusaders jumped out to an early 6-1 lead. Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) scored five minutes into the game, then Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) won the draw control and took it all the way to the net for another goal.
Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) scored twice in the six-goal run, while Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) scored once and assisted on an Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) goal.
Goucher then responded with four more goals by the end of the half, and Susquehanna took a 7-5 lead into intermission after Deese scored again with six minutes to go. The Gophers then tied the game early in the second half and it would be a back-and-forth battle from there.
Devilbiss scored again at 20:42, but Goucher re-tied the game five minutes later. Devilbiss then sent a pass to Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, Mass./Williston-Northhampton), who sent it home for another Crusader goal and lead. But the Gophers would respond once again with 1:42 left to send the game into overtime.
The two teams were scoreless in the first overtime period, but Goucher scored one minute into the second overtime. Susquehanna forced a third overtime when Devilbiss and Coffey once again teamed up on a goal. Tersigni's game-winning goal came at 2:14 in the period to give the Gophers the sudden-victory win.
Abbie Handerhan (Arlington, Va./Connelly School of Holy Child) had four caused turnovers and five ground balls for Susquehanna, and Liz DiPaola (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) also had five ground balls. Deese led the team with three draw controls won.
Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) went the in goal for the Crusaders, making 12 saves.
April 9: Crusaders catch Royals for Landmark win Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Five unanswered goals in the last 15 minutes of play keyed the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team to a come-from-behind 13-11 Landmark Conference win over the University of Scranton Wednesday.
Scranton (6-4, 1-1 Landmark) led 6-4 after a closely-fought first half, but Susquehanna (4-6, 1-1 Landmark) stayed close and then unleashed some offensive firepower to take the win.
The Crusaders scored first when Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) scored on a free position shot less than four minutes into the game. The Royals responded with two straight goals but Susquehanna tied it at two-all on an Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) goal and went back up thanks to a Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) strike.
Scranton once again put together back-to-back goals to take a one-goal lead and the Crusaders tied it again, this time on a free position shot by Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan). The Royals scored twice more over the final five minutes to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
That advantage quickly increased by two as Scranton scored on two free-position shots within two minutes of each other. Susquehanna fought back with two goals of its own, one by Deese and another by Devilbiss. The Royals added one just 23 seconds after Devilbiss' to keep their advantage at three.
Danielle Jacobs (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) scored a minute later to pull the Crusaders within two and then McGarrigle passed to Sarah Wright (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) to cut Scranton's lead to one.
The Royals would add one more goal before Susquehanna's five-goal tear that started with another Devilbiss goal at 14:19. Just over a minute later, Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) sent a pass from behind the net to Linton, who fired it home to knot the game at 10 apiece. Linton added her third goal of the day three minutes later to give the Crusaders the lead.
In the closing minutes, Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) struck twice to add to the Susquehanna lead. The Royals rallied for a final goal with 36 seconds left to play but could not catch the Crusaders.
Deese led Susquehanna with four caused turnovers, and along with Jacobs, Linton and Corinne Woodward (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional), scooped three ground balls apiece.
Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) made 11 saves in goal for the Crusaders.
April 6: Susquehanna overpowers Trinity, 20-0 Box Score
WASHINGTON D.C. – On Sunday, the Crusaders dominated the Tigers of Trinity in a 20-0 win with goals coming from 15 various players.
Junior Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) opened scoring less than a minute into play with a goal at 29:04. Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) then proved successful on a free position shot at 27:18 which was backed by a Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) goal less than a minute later. To take a 5-0 lead, Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) scored back-to-back goals followed by goals from senior Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and freshman Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, Mass.A/Williston-Northhampton).
Minuni struck merely 20 seconds after Coffey to capture her second goal of the day to increase the margin to 8-0. Linton grabbed her second within a minute, as Coffey followed to tally her second of the day, also.
Freshman Kayla MacMillan (Woodstock, Conn./Hyde School) came off the bench to score her first goal of the season at 15:40. The Crusaders then went five minutes without action before Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Janey Arronson (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Harriton) scored to finish out the first stint of play with a 13-0 advantage.
The Crusaders scored seven in the second to improve to 3-6 overall (0-1 Landmark). Freshman midfielder, Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central), scored the first two goals of the second-half before Kristen Detwiler (Montchanin, DE/Wilmington Friends) and Cindy Wilson (West Chester, PA/Henderson) added points for the orange and maroon.
Dana Mulvilhill (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) netted the eighteenth of the day at 16:29 before a nine minute scoring lull set in. Crusaders Danielle Jacobs (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) and Corinne Woodward (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional) finalized the score at 20-0 with 6:06 remaining to capture the win for Susquehanna.
Jacobs led the Crusaders with three ground balls, while Minuni managed four caused turnovers for the Crusaders.
Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) recorded her first shutout of the season in goal, notching two saves. Susquehanna outshot the Tigers, 39-2.
April 5: Catholic takes Landmark opener from Susquehanna Box Score
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team opened Landmark Conference play Saturday with a 19-10 loss to host Catholic University.
Catholic (8-4, 1-0 Landmark) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but Susquehanna (2-6, 0-1 Landmark) responded with a scoring blitz of its own to take a 5-3 lead. Sarah Wright (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) took an Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) pass for the first goal at 21:06, and Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) followed up two and a half minutes later. Cindy Wilson (West Chester, PA/Henderson) sent a free position shot into the net for the tying goal. Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) and Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) added a goal apiece.
The Cardinals got back on the scoreboard with a goal at 4:42, but Susquehanna answered again as Wright found McGarrigle to put the advantage back at two goals. Catholic scored one more time before the half to cut the Crusader lead to one.
The second half was all Catholic, as the Cardinals found the net 14 times to take the win. Susquehanna added four more but could not overcome the Cardinal barrage. Minuni and Cadigan scored unassisted and Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) scored on an assist from Devilbiss, then passed off to McGarrigle for the Crusaders' final goal.
Devilbiss led Susquehanna with four draw controls and Liz DiPaola (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) had three ground balls. Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) had a solid effort in goal, notching 20 saves. Catholic outshot Susquehanna, 52-17.
April 2: Fast start helps Crusaders tame Bobcats Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Three goals in the first two minutes of play gave the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team a lead it would never relinquish, leading to a 17-10 win over Frostburg State University Wednesday. The Crusaders move to 2-5 on the season and the Bobcats to 4-5.
Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) scored the first of her five goals on the night just 36 seconds into the game on an assist from Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key). Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) struck home 26 seconds later and Devilbiss just 47 seconds after that for a quick 3-0 lead.
Frostburg kept things close with two goals before Sarah Wright (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) took a Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, MA/Williston-Northhampton) pass for a goal and Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) scored on a free position shot to put the Crusader advantage back to three.
The Bobcats added another goal, but Susquehanna went on a four-goal run as Minuni, Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes), and Wright all scored unassisted goals in under four minutes. After Frostburg added two, Coffey scored unassisted to give the Crusaders a 10-5 lead at the half.
Minuni added her third goal of the night to open the second-half scoring. Frostburg scored to stay within five, but Linton went on a run of her own, scoring two unassisted goals in a one-minute span. The Bobcats scored; Linton answered -- a pattern that repeated five minutes later.
Coffey added two more goals, one assisted by Kayla MacMillan (Woodstock, CT/Hyde School), for the final Susquehanna goals of the night.

March 29: Falcons fell Crusaders as both offenses get hot Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Things looked bleak for the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team when Messiah College scored five goals in the first 3:06 of Saturday's matchup. But the Crusaders (1-5, 0-0 Landmark) put together some scoring bursts of their own and took a second-half lead before the Falcons (3-3) rallied to win, 13-11.
After Messiah's quick start, Susquehanna scored three of their own in a six-minute span. Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) scored two of those goals and Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) the other. The Falcons answered a minute later but McGarrigle struck again to keep the Crusaders within two.
Messiah added two more goals for an 8-4 lead, but Susquehanna then began a run of its own. Freshman Sarah Wright (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) scored her first collegiate goal on a free position shot at the 6:52 mark. Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) and Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) added free position goals and McGarrigle found Linton with 37 seconds left in the half to pull Susquehanna even.
The Crusader run continued to open the second half as Devilbiss struck again, this time on a pass from Linton. Minuni found Kelly Coffey (Northhampton, MA/Williston-Northhampton) 20 seconds later for the freshman's first Crusader goal.
Five became the number of the day for the Falcons as they went on another five-goal spurt to retake the lead. Devilbiss added one more goal with 2:37 left to go but that would end the Susquehanna scoring.
Megan Bovenzi and Jessica VanHook led the Falcons with four goals apiece and VanHook added five draw controls and three ground balls.
Devilbiss and Corinne Woodward (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional) led the Crusaders with four ground balls apiece and Devilbiss added three draw controls. March 19: Crusaders rally but can't pass Warriors Box Score
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - A four-goal spurt in the second half was not enough to get the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team past Lycoming College Wednesday, as they fell 19-12 in a rainy match in Williamsport.
Twenty-three of the game's 31 goals came in the first half. Lycoming jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game, then Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) struck to open the Crusader scoring. The Warriors answered just 54 seconds later but Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) gave her own reply a minute after that to draw the Crusaders within two.
After two more Lycoming goals, Katelyn Deese (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) scored the first of her three goals on the day. Sara Frackowiak (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) added her own after a Warrior strike to keep the Crusaders within three. Lycoming then scored two and three goals at a clip to take the 16-7 advantage at halftime.
Deese added another goal in the first half and Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) scored her first two of four on the day. Devilbiss then opened second-half scoring with a goal at the 24:43 mark.
Lycoming would respond again, but Susquehanna kept hopes of a rally alive, shutting the Warriors down for 13 minutes as Deese scored again, then Devilbiss found Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and added another goal of her own. Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) connected with McGarrigle for the fourth Crusader goal of that span, but Lycoming tacked on two more goals to dash the comeback hopes.
Jess Weiss (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) played all 60 minutes in goal for Susquehanna, making 13 saves and also leading the Crusaders with six ground balls. Minuni added four ground balls as well.
March 14: Crusaders drop hard-fought home opener Box Score
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Playing in a steady spring shower, the Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team dropped its home opener to the York College Spartans Friday, 10-8.
The lead see-sawed back and forth, with York holding a one-goal advantage at the half. Susquehanna evened things up in the first five minutes of the second half, but after the teams traded two goals apiece, the Spartans scored twice in the final eight minutes and its defense held for the win.
York's Alison Napolitano scored her first of five goals on the night in the opening two minutes of the game, then Susquehanna's Heather Linton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) responded just a minute later. The Crusaders went up 2-1 40 seconds after that as Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) scored on a free position shot.
The Spartans tied things up then Susquehanna went ahead again on Linton's second goal of the night. York then scored twice more to move ahead but Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) tied things up at the 10:22 mark. Napolitano then scored twice more in a 20-second span to give York a two-goal advantage, which Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) cut to one with seven minutes left to end the first-half scoring.
Minuni then opened the second-half scoring with an unassisted goal five minutes in, then after two more Spartan goals, added her third of the night. Linton scored her second goal of the night at 9:43 to tie the game, but Napolitanto answered again then assisted on Jaclyn VanLuit's goal to end the night.

March 12: Fast Elizabethtown start too much for Crusaders Box Score
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team could not overcome a fast start by Elizabethtown College, which scored five goals in the first five minutes of the game en route to an 18-4 victory.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team scored 12 goals in the first half en route to a 19-9 win over Division II Assumption College in spring break action in Florida.
Senior Erin McGarrigle (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) led the scoring barrage with six goals. Classmates Rachel Devilbiss (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Mary Minuni (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) added four apiece, and Devilbiss also had three assists.
Dana Mulvihill (Madison, N.J./Morristown-Beard School) had two goals and an assist, Meghan Cadigan (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) tallied two goals and alsocaused three turnovers.
