ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Sophomore Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won one individual event and was part or all of two second-place finishes to help Susquehanna University (2–4) split two decisions, a 108–79 win over Messiah College (0–5) and a 117–70 decision to host Elizabethtown College (3–3) in a tri-meet at Alumni Pool on Nov. 15.
Savard won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1 minute, 5.5 seconds and placed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:08.44. She teamed with sophomore Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom) and juniors Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) and Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) on the runner-up 200 medley relay team. Times for that event were reported inaccurately, though places are correct.
Jankiewicz also captured first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.47, and junior Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) placed second in both the 50 free and 100 fly in 27.34 seconds and 1:07.28 seconds, respectively.
Sophomore Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) touched the wall second in two events, swimming the 500 and 1,000 free in 5:42.50 and 11:58.13, respectively. Junior Hayley Keenan (Pikesville, Md./Liberty) finished second in the 100 back with a 1:05.85 time.
Nov. 14: Susquehanna 52, Dickinson 142 Results
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Sophomore Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) posted second-fastest times in three events to lead Susquehanna University (1–3), but it wasn't enough as visiting Dickinson College (3–0) took a 142–52 decision at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Nov. 14.
Savard touched the wall second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 15.16 seconds and swam a leg on two relays that both posted second-best times. She teamed with juniors Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) and Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) and sophomore Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) on the 400 freestyle relay that swam a time of 3:59.98 and competed alongside sophomores Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom) and Melissa Weeks (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and junior Hayley Keenan (Pikesville, Md./Liberty) on the 400 medley relay that finished in 4:31.97.
Harris also registered a runner-up time of 2:36.52 in the 200 butterfly.
Senior Amy Thiele (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) finished second in the 200 individual medley with a 2:30.17 time.
Nov. 11: Susquehanna 140, Lycoming 64 Results
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Sophomore Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won two individual events, but the Susquehanna University (1–2) women's swimming team fell to visiting Lycoming College (3–1), 140–64, at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Nov. 11.
Savard won both the 100-yard butterfly and 200 freestyle, finishing with times of 1 minute, 4.41 seconds and 2:05.15, respectively. She also swam a leg on the second-place 400 medley relay team, which posted a time of 4:23.91. Juniors Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place), Hayley Keenan (Pikesville, Md./Liberty) and Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) rounded out the relay.
Sophomore Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) finished second in both the 500 and 1,000 frees with times of 5:51.22 and 11:34.56, respectively.
Sophomore Lindsey Jankiewicz (Easton, Pa./Freedom) touched the wall second in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.51.
Nov. 7: Susquehanna 116, Lebanon Valley 78 Results
ANNVILLE, Pa. — Visiting Susquehanna University (1–1) women's swimmers notched the fastest times in all but two events on their way to a 116–78 win over Lebanon Valley College (1–3) at the Arnold Sports Center swimming pool on Nov. 7.
Sophomore Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team to lead the Crusaders. Savard took first place in the 200-meter freestyle and 100 butterfly with times of 2 minutes, 21.32 seconds and 1:11.56, respectively. She was part of the 200 medley relay, along with junior Hayley Keenan (Back Pikesville, Md./Liberty), junior Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) and senior Amy Thiele (New Providence, N.J./New Providence), that posted a winning time of 2:15.87.
Keenan captured first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.72 and swam a leg on the fastest 400 free relay team. Keenan, teaming with sophomore Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley), Thiele, and junior Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place), swam a time of 4:26.84 in that relay event.
Los captured first place in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:27.04 and took second in the 100 free with a 1:06.90 time, while Thiele grabbed second place in the 400 individual medley with a time of 6:00.20.
Snyder won two individual events, taking the 400 free in 5:08.45 and the 800 free in 10:34.85. Harris touched the wall first in the 50 free with a 29.33-seconds time.
Junior Lauren Kintzing (Longmont, Colo./Fairview) earned two second-place finishes, swimming the 400 free in 5:41.20 and the 800 free in 11:31.01.
Sophomore Melissa Weeks (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:30.98.
Oct. 25: Susquehanna 100, Goucher 103 Results
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Susquehanna University (0–1) dropped a close 103–100 decision to visiting Goucher College (1–0) at the James W. Garrett Sports Complex swimming pool on Oct. 25.
Susquehanna had three individual event winners on the day and one victorious relay team. The 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of senior Amy Thiele (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) and sophomores Lauren Snyder (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley), Hayley Keenan (Back Pikesville, Md./Liberty) and Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) won the event in 1 minute, 50.45 seconds, more than 11 seconds clear of the trailing Gophers.
In addition to their strong relay performances, Savard captured first place in the 100 backstroke with a 1:04.06 finish and snatched second in the 200 free in 2:05.56, while Snyder earned a first-place finish in the 500 free in 5:53.91.
Other individual event winners included junior Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) in the 50 free with a time of 27.35 seconds and junior Cristina Los (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:18.44 finish. Sophomore Melissa Weeks (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) followed Los for second place in the 100 breast with a time of 1:22.71.
Junior Lauren Kintzing (Longmont, Colo./Fairview) swam the 1,650 free in 22:16.41—good for second place—while Keenan and Thiele also finished in second with times of 1:07.66 and 2:32.82 in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley, respectively.
Keenan, Los, and juniors Catherine Harris (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) and Anita Lake (Ijamsville, Md./Urbana) earned a second-place spot in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:01.77.
