Adams and Mellor named to first team as inaugural season concludes

SELINSGROVE, PA - Under the direction of first year men’s head coach, Bob Jordan, the Crusader men’s tennis team posted a 3-10 overall record while finishing 2-5 in the Landmark Conference.

The tandem of senior Todd Adams (Brimfield, Mass./Tantasqua Regional) (right) and freshman Will Mellor (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors after compiling a 5-1 record throughout the 2007-08 season.

Adams, the squad’s captain, concluded his colligate career on April 24 with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles over Samuel Meade of Baptist Bible College. He recorded an overall season record of 3-10 and a conference record of 2-4. Mellor contributed an overall singles record of 3-11 for the Orange and Maroon.

Junior Matt Mitchell (Millville, N.J./Millville) led Susquehanna with a 7-7 overall singles record while freshman Dillon Pulnkett (Harpswell, Maine/Mt. Ararat) compiled a 5-10 season.

Following Adams’ and Mellor’s lead, sophomores Kirk McAuliffe (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) and Cory Prescott (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) tallied a 3-5 overall record with a 2-3 record in the conference doubles bracket.

Mitchell was joined by senior Tyler Rush (Line Lexington, Pa./North Penn) on the 2008 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

The Crusaders look to welcome a strong recruiting class and return a challenging team of veterans in the fall anticipating a postseason berth.
