Susquehanna Volleyball Season Wrap-Up
(Final record 11-26 overall, 1-5 conference)
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team finished 11-26 overall and 1-5 in their inaugural season of Landmark Conference play. Led by fifth-year head coach John Tom, the young team compiled of just one senior earned its first win of the 2007 campaign on the second day of the season at the Haverford Invitational on September 2 against Neumann College.
Junior middle hitter and co-captain Ainsley Catagnus ( Reading , Pa. /Reading Central Catholic HS) earned Second-Team All-Landmark Conference honors. Catagnus appeared in all 36 matches, amassed a team high of 399 kills for the season, finished second on the team in blocks with 76 and tied for second in service aces with 27.
Seeing action in every match in 2007, freshman Lindsey Jankiewicz ( Easton, Pa. /Freedom HS) led all newcomers on the team statistically. She was first on the team among all players in blocks with 77 and second in kills with 383.
The Crusaders final win of the season came on October 27 at the Messiah Invitational when they defeated Lycoming, 3-0. Senior setter and co-captain Sophie Hall (Westfield, N.J./Westfield HS) wrapped up her career by accumulating 3,748 assists, 581 digs, 196 kills, 136 services aces and 101 blocks in 410 games played during her time at Susquehanna.
