Class of 2007 Major: Elementary Education Hometown: Hanover, Pa. Activities and Honors:
Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity, WomenSpeak, campus dining student manager, Spanish teaching assistant, dean’s list Why I chose to attend Susquehanna:
Because of the welcoming attitude of the school when I was applying, the small class sizes, and the beautiful campus. Best faculty connection: Dr. Leona Martin. She has helped me from my first day at Susquehanna. I have taken two of her classes, and I also served as her teaching assistant for Spanish for the Service Professions. She has seen me progress and has helped me become more in touch with the person I am inside. Favorite class: Children’s Literature. The course explored the purposes and meanings of children’s books and the different genres that they fall into. We also learned how to create effective lesson plans incorporating the books that we read. Most rewarding experience: I interned with the Keystone Health Migrant Education Program, where I served as a translator for migrant workers in the Gettysburg area. The internship helped with my continuation of Spanish and immersed me in Mexican and Puerto Rican culture. It was rewarding to help the workers receive healthcare through the program.
