SU Intercollegiate Equestrian Club
The Susquehanna University Equestrian Team is a club sport that is open to students of all levels of riding experience. This co-ed team competes with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) against other universities in zone 3, region 1. They train at Summer Breeze Stables in Milton, Pa., under the direction of trainer Jan Phillips.
The Susquehanna Equestrian team provides students with the opportunity to ride either English or western, or both if they so choose. They accept riders of all levels, from those who have never even gotten on a horse, to those who are more advanced and have experience showing.
The western riding team at Susquehanna is a co-ed team that rides once a week at A and A Farms LLC in Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa., under the coaching of Amanda Kerstetter--an experienced rider and trainer. Lessons are about an hour and team members ride in small groups based on skill level. They compete in IHSA shows under Zone 3 Region 2, and make each show a fun and exciting learning experience.
Early Childhood Education
"The western team is my pride and joy. I have been so lucky to make this new team a reality, and I am so happy to be able to share my passion with other students. The team has given me confidence to overcome obstacles and has taught me how to be a leader. I’m so excited to see the western team grow and continue to enrich Susquehanna’s equestrian program."
