Code of Student Conduct
Interim Suspension
9. In consultation with university officials, the Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students or a designee may suspend a student from the university for an interim period pending disciplinary or criminal proceedings or medical evaluation. The interim suspension shall become immediately effective without prior notice whenever there is evidence that the continued presence of the student at the university poses a substantial and immediate threat to himself or herself, to others or to the stability and continuance of normal university functions.
10. A student suspended on an interim basis may be given an opportunity to address the Dean of Students or a designee within 48 hours from the effective date of emergency interim withdrawal (in writing, over the phone or, in some instances, in person). A student may use this opportunity to address the following issues only. The Dean of Students may only repeal an Interim Suspension if 10a and 10b of this code are found to be favorable on the part of the student. Every effort will be made to expedite the process to minimize any possible negative impacts on the student.
- the reliability of the information concerning the student's conduct, including the matter of his or her identity;
- whether the conduct and surrounding circumstances reasonably indicate that the continued presence of the student on university premises poses a substantial and immediate threat to himself or herself or to others or the stability and continuance of normal university functions.
