Margie Briskey’s dedication to SU students started in 1992. After a brief departure from SU in 1996, she returned in 2002 as a full time staff nurse where she was involved in direct patient care until 2008. Currently, Briskey serves as the administrative director to the student health center.
In 2008, Briskey graduated from Bloomsburg University with a master of science in nursing. Briskey holds an active membership in the American College Health Association, the principal leadership organization in the field of college health, and is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing. In 2008 Briskey accepted the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Graduate Student Recognition Award. Briskey is also an active member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, the nation’s oldest and most selective honor society for academic disciplines.
As a dedicated member of the SU community, Briskey has been thoroughly involved in many different facets of campus life. Briskey has participated in resident assistant training, residence hall talks, evaluated incoming health records, helped create a few policies, and coordinated the annual health fair. Most recently, she has worked with Geisinger to lease space and develop a partnership in efforts to better meet the medical needs of SU students. In 2010, Briskey was honored with the Signe S. Gates Award for valuable contributions to Susquehanna University and in 2011, she was honored with the Tracy Tyree Student Life Award. While Briskey is as busy as ever, she most enjoys the one-on-one interactions with SU’s students.
