Haiti Relief Efforts
Haiti relief efforts are being coordinated through the SU Haiti Relief Fund (SUHRF) Committee.
The committee is encouraging people to donate money towards Haiti relief at this time since the country cannot accommodate donations of actual items, with limited room to store materials and volunteers to sort/distribute items.
As of Feb. 12, more than $950 have been raised. All monetary donations are being directed to support the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund.
At this time, there are no plans to send a relief team down to Haiti in the near future due to safety concerns.
SUHRF will be collecting monetary donations, as well as giving out Haiti awareness ribbons and bracelets, through Spring Break. The committee is staffing a table in the Degenstein Campus Center from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. weekdays.
A number of student organizations on campus are participating in Haiti relief efforts, and are working with the committee in coordinating activities. The SUHRF Committee meets Sunday at 9 p.m. in the Seibert Faculty Lounge. Committee chairs are Matthew Stokes '11, Diane Eshelman '11, and Lauren Williams '10. The committee can be reached at Haiti@susqu.edu.
