Christmas Candlelight Service
The annual Christmas Candlelight Service is one of Susquehanna's most cherished traditions, as more than 1,600 members of the SU and surrounding communities gather in Weber Chapel.
The service includes candle lighting and carols, as well as traditional readings, songs and prayers in celebration of the season. University Chaplain Mark Radecke presides and preaches, assisted by a faculty lector, three student deacons and a member of Catholic Campus Ministry. Susquehanna’s President L. Jay Lemons continues the tradition of reading the Prologue to John’s Gospel.
Music is provided by the Festival Chorus, the University Choir, University Chorale, and Women’s Choir under the direction of Associate Professor of Music Rod Caldwell and Assistant Professor of Music Colin Armstrong; also the Handbell Choir, Brass Quintet and University Organist and Assistant Professor of Music Marcos Krieger.
