About the Author of
The Virgin Mary as Alchemical and
Lullian Reference in Donne
Roberta Albrecht is a Privatgelehrte who lives in the Bronx and the Reading Rooms of the New York Public Library. She has presented papers on Donne at the Modern Language Association's conventions in 2001, 2002, and 2004. Her publications include articles on Herbert and Donne. She has studied and/or worked at Stetson University, Purdue University, Marquette University, New York University, and Concordia College. Before leaving the college classroom and numerous concomitant committee assignments that seemed to be leading nowhere-she taught courses in Milton, metaphysical poetry, American Transcendentalism, and eighteenth-century satire. She and her husband are frequent travelers to Germany, England, and Italy, where they enjoy opera and haunt museums. When they retire someday, to some yet undetermined place, they plan to get a cat. Maybe his name will be Gus (short for Trismegistus).
