Wayne R. Kime is a native of California and a graduate of Stanford University (B.A., 1963) and the University of Delaware (M.A., 1965, Ph.D., 1968). He has taught at the University of Delaware, the University of Toronto, and Fairmont State College,
West Virginia. Dr. Kime is the author of many articles and reviews in American literature and American history and has written or edited several volumes. These include a biographical work, Pierre M. Irving and Washington Irving: A Collaboration in
Life and Letters; an edited folklore study, Ernest J. Moyne's Raising the Wind: The Legend of Lapland and Finland Wizards in Lit-erature (University of Delaware Press); critical editions of Washington Irving's Miscellaneous Writings 1803-1859 and
Journals and Notebooks, 1826-1829; a volume of criticism, Donald G. Mitchell; a critical edition of Richard Irving Dodge's The Plains of North America and Their Inhabitants (University of Delaware Press); and four volumes of Dodge's edited journals:
The Black Hills Journals of Colonel Richard Irving Dodge; The Powder River Expedition Jour-nals of Colonel Richard Irving Dodge; The Indian Territory Journals of Colonel Richard Irving Dodge; and The Sherman Tour Journals of Colonel Richard Irving Dodge.
Dr. Kime is co-author of Advocate for America: The Life of James Kirke Paulding, also to be published by Susquehanna University Press. Now retired from teaching, Dr. Kime is at work on several projects of research and writing. He makes his home in Fairmont, West Virginia.
