College Republicans Host “Rock Bottom?” Economic Panel

SELINSGROVE – On Wednesday, April 1 at 7 pm the SU College Republicans will host “Rock Bottom?” an Economic Panel Discussion, as part of their Paint the Campus Red week. The public is encouraged to attend this event, which will be held in Isaac’s Auditorium, Seibert Hall at Susquehanna University.

The event will include three panelists and a moderator who will ask questions that have been submitted by students. These questions fall into three main categories: general economic conditions, the economy’s effect on college students, and the future of the economy. The panel will also include an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.

“The state of the economy is a concern for everyone right now,” President Eric Sweeney said, “We wanted to incorporate this key issue into our Paint the Campus Red Week.”

The participants of the “Rock Bottom?” panel will include: Dr. Jeffery Mann (moderator), Associate Professor of Religion; Dr. James Pomykalski, Associate Professor of Information Systems; Dr. Matthew Rousu, Assistant Professor of Economics; and Sam Bidleman, owner of Bidleman Photography.

“From teaching economics to owning a small business, we wanted to make sure we included a few different perspectives on the economy,” Vice President Shannon Dewees said.

Paint the Campus Red week will consist of five days of promoting conservative values on campus. The week will begin on Monday with Support the Troops Day, followed by Healthcare Day on Tuesday. Wednesday will be dedicated to issues in the economy. The week will conclude with Why Republican? on Thursday and the promotion of State and Local government on Friday. Paint the Campus Red Week and the “Rock Bottom?” Economic Panel are sponsored by the SU College Republicans.
