Newfield-Schumacher Wedding
Christy Newfield ’00 married Chris Schumacher on April 24, 2004, in Hollywood, Md. Christy works as a contract specialist for the Department of the Navy at NAS Patuxent River, Md. Christy also completed her master’s degree in management in June of 2003 from the Florida Institute of Technology. They live in Lexington Park, Md.

Matthew Anderson ’00 was awarded a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Kent State University on May 8, 2004. He and his wife, Triniti, currently live in Kent, Ohio, but will soon be moving to Portland, Maine, where he will be starting as assistant professor of psychology at Saint Joseph’s College in the fall of 2004.

Beira E. Torres-Rosario Brown ’02 has completed her graduate studies at Villanova University and earned her master of science degree in counseling and human services in May 2004. She was also inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society at Villanova this past spring. She is currently employed by the Reading School District as a high school guidance counselor. Her husband, John C. Brown ’00, is working with Quaker Maid Kitchens of Reading as a designer.

Michele Collins ’00 is the coordinator of part-time graduate programs and enrollment management counselor at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pa.

Tara Laskowski ’00 won the Dan Rudy Fiction Award for her short story, “Death Wishes,” and the Shelley A. Marshall Award for her short story, “Witness.” She has a story published on the online journal Pindeldyboz, located at www.pindeldyboz.com.

Jonathan O’Harrow ’00 is employed as a webmaster by Penn State Altoona. He also is involved in several community theatres, and in November 2003, directed a production of the musical review Smokey Joe’s Cafe at Altoona Community Theater. In January 2003, Jonathan directed and played piano for a smaller, one-hour production of the show which placed first out of a total of seven community theaters at the Pennsylvania Association of Community Theater's (PACT) festival. The same production then received numerous performance awards at the Eastern States Theatre Association’s (ESTA) festival. The production was also selected as one of five out of 37 applicants from around the world to participate in the Yakumo International Theater festival to be held in Yakumo, Japan in November 2004. Other Susquehanna alumni who have been involved in the production are: Julie Gicking ’97, who has performed in all versions of the show and received an outstanding vocalist award at the ESTA festival; and Jessica Miles ’99 Connell, who was music director for the original production and the first competition production at the PACT festival.

Jennifer Perrine ’00 is attending Florida State University, where she has received a university fellowship for two years and is a Ph.D. candidate in English/creative writing. She has also recently won a poetry fellowship from Writers at Work. Her poems have most recently been published in the journals Ellipsis, Harpur, Palate and Poems & Plays, and she has new poems forthcoming in Fuse, The Ledge, Quarterly West, Red Wheelbarrow and Sow’s Ear. Jennifer also has an essay in The Holocaust Film Sourcebook, published May 2004.

Catherine Pierce ’00 attends the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she holds a creative writing fellowship and is a Ph.D. candidate. Her poems are being published in Mid-American Review, descant and Willow Springs.

Born to David and Joanne Marquardt ’00 Troutman, a son, Elijah Jeffrey, April 15, 2004. He joins big brother Maxwell. They live in Mifflinburg, Pa.

Talmus Williams ’00 is a specialized foster care case manager at the Children’s Home of Reading in Reading, Pa.

Ryan Cidzik ’01 is the assistant strength and conditioning coach of the football, baseball and women’s basketball teams at Louisiana Tech University. He also is the head strength coach for the track and field and men’s basketball teams. Ryan, the American Powerlifting Association (APA) Louisiana state chairman, is pursuing his master’s degree in exercise science. He lives in Ruston, La.

Amy Getz ’01 is the marketing and public relations manager at The New Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum.

Casey Goff ’01 is the assistant coach for linebackers at Mansfield University.

Allyson Jones ’01 is a second-grade teacher at Pottsgrove, Pa., School District. She lives in Pottstown, Pa.

Erin Kolakowski ’01 has moved to Tampa, Fla., after living in Hawaii on the island of Oahu until January 2004. She works in development and financing for the Carrollwood Day School in Odessa, Fla.

Kathleen Lo Russo ’01 is the assistant marching band director for Western Wayne Wildcats and teaching sixth- and seventh-grade band at Western Wayne School District. She is also performing with a musical group at the University of Scranton.

Erin Lynam ’01 earned a master’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has accepted an environmental consulting position with the firm Engineering-Environmental Management, Inc., in Philadelphia, Pa.

Kevin Myers ’01 directed the musical Children of Eden in March 2004, at the Warrior Run High School, Watsontown, Pa.

Erin Meglic ’01 Siegfried is co-director of Saucon Valley Community Center in Hellertown, Pa.

Holly Slotterback ’01 received her master of arts degree in student affairs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May 2004.

Sara Fuller ’02 was appointed head field hockey and assistant softball coach at The University of Scranton. She lives in Mountaintop, Pa.

Megan McMullen ’02 joined the National Capital Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Washington, D.C., as development manager. Megan is responsible for promoting workplace giving campaigns, community outreach fundraising, grant writing, stewardship and assisting with donor programs.

Amy Purcell ’02 completed her second year at Cornell Law School and was a summer associate at Fox Rothschild in Philadelphia, Pa., in 2004.

Jill Snyder ’02 Musser is a case manager at Holpen Village Inc. in Winfield, Pa. She and her husband, Brent Musser ’03, live in Richfield, Pa.

Nathan Troup ’02 performed with Galen Deibler, Susquehanna professor emeritus of music, at the sixth annual Arts at St. John’s Benefit Recital and Exhibit in Snydertown, Pa., on March 14, 2004. Nathan received a master’s degree in vocal performance from Boston University in May 2004. He lives in Boston, Mass

Jennifer Engerer ’02 Troutman is a research associate for the department of sociology at Villanova University. She and her husband, Jameson ’02, live in Devon, Pa.

Kate Van Cott ’02 graduated from the University of Denver with a master’s degree in social work, and is working at Savio House in Denver, Colo., as a day treatment therapist.

It truly is a small world! Six SU alumni and one current student ran into each other in Las Vegas, Nev. in front of the Bellagio on June 23, 2004. What are the chances? Kate Badman ’03 was recently hired as a loaner-fleet coordinator for Bobby Rahal Lexus/Toyota in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Mark Bartosic ’03 signed a free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Mark was the first player in NCAA history to achieve four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He is also tied for second in Division III history for consecutive games with receptions (40).

Jennifer Brennan ’03 is an administrative assistant for SilverCarrot, Inc., New York City. She lives in Jersey City, N.J.

Leslie Derderian ’03 is an executive assistant at Dan Klores Communications in New York City.

Teresa Ely ’03 is a graduate teaching assistant and graduate student at The School for Children in Eatontown, N.J.

Gregory Ermentrout ’03 is employed at Bill’s Khakis in Reading, Pa.

Kathryn Herman ’03 is a research specialist at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa.

Katie Long ’03 married Michael Demers on April 1, 2004. Katie is a librarian at the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport, Pa. They live in Jersey Shore, Pa.

Marie Maradeo ’03 is attending Lehigh University in the fall of 2004 to study molecular biology.

Maria Martinez ’03 is a Spanish teacher at Hanover County Public Schools in Richmond, Va.

Courtney Murphy ’03 is a marketing coordinator for the Downtown Magazine Group in Glen Rock, N.J.

Jenni Rowles ’03 is a research assistant/grant writer in the Ezra Lehman Library at Shippensburg University and an orientation director and residence life assistant at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa.

Kristin Schaefer ’03 is a therapeutic staff support at Behavioral Health for the Youth Advocate Program in York, Pa.

Born to Lindsay Shaffer ’03, a daughter, Halley Grace, Feb. 18, 2004. She joins big brother Caleb. They live in Herndon, Pa.

Linley Snyder ’03 began work on her first service project of the year with the National Civilian Community Corps, an AmeriCorps program.

Emily Suraci ’03 is the online editor at Thomson Education Direct. She lives in Uniondale, Pa.

Amanda Tompkinson ’03 passed the examinations to qualify as a certified public accountant. She is employed at Mailie, Falconiero & Company, LLP.

James Varghese ’03 is an assistant branch manager at M&T Bank. He lives in Harrisburg, Pa.

William Wolf ’03 has joined Archbishop Curley High School as the assistant admissions and alumni director. William, a 1999 graduate of the school, will also teach one class of English literature. He was previously employed as a middle school English teacher with a private school in Baltimore City.

Brian Card ’04 is an area accountant at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Wilton, Conn. He lives in Mt. Kisco, N.Y.

Sarah Pierce ’04 is an English teacher for the New Hope-Solebury School District in New Hope, Pa.
