Class Reporter: To all those from the Class of ’64 who returned to SU for our 40th Reunion – what a great time we had seeing each other again. We truly missed those who were unable to be with us. Please keep in touch as to your activities and address.
Grace Simington ’64 Karschner is a member of the 2003 Class of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. This is the oldest continuous-running book group in the U.S. and is based in Chautauqua, N.Y. In order to become a member, one must participate in a four-year reading program and read four books each year from a prescribed reading list. Grace is interested in knowing if other SU alumni are involved or interested in this program.
James Skinner ’64 retired on July 9 as director of admissions, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He and his wife, Jane, plan a move to Arizona – to golf and have fun!
Elizabeth Ann Gerding ’65 married Bob Hurley, July 25, 2004. They reside in McGaheysville, Va. She also recently retired after teaching for 38 years.
1966
Class Reporter: Donald Steel King ’66 is retiring from teaching in the Montoursville Area School District. Donald taught for 38 years, and was chosen as the secondary teacher of the year for Region IV.
1967
Class Reporter: Dick Pursell, husband of Carole Sloan ’67 Pursell and stepfather of Allison Grebe ’94, passed away on February 3, 2004 in Norristown, Pa. Dick was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, but embraced Susquehanna as his own. An avid fan of Crusader football, he attended all home and away games. Dick also loved to meet incoming freshmen with their parents by hosting freshmen sendoffs at his home.

Class Reporter: Robert King ’68 was a guest speaker at the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting in Mifflintown, Pa. He spoke on “McAlisterville Orphanages.” Robert is president of King Financial Services Inc.
John A. Meyer ’68 retired from Clifton High School after 35 years of service, where he taught for 25 years before serving as vice principal. John is presently living in New Jersey but is house hunting in Southwest Florida.
Norrine Bailey ’68 Spencer was named associate provost and director of undergraduate admissions at Virginia Tech. She had been the associate dean for undergraduate programs in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. She and her husband, Edward, live in Blacksburg, Va.
1969
Class Reporter: Alan Cooper ’69 was a recipient of the 2004 MBS Kellogg Appreciation Fund. The fund, a gift endowment from the Peter Kellogg family of Short Hills, was established to honor two Morristown-Beard School faculty and/or staff members each year for their
outstanding contributions to the school. Alan received a $5,000 award to use for any purpose that enriches his life. He has taught Latin and history for the past 20 years. He has also directed the
public archaeology program at the Somerset County Park Commission’s Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge.
