He also completed a visiting assistant professorship in the American studies department at Dickinson College. Prior to admittance into the Ph.D. program, Sheava graduated with her master's degree in behavioral psychology at the University of the Pacific in 2002. Upon completion of her master's degree, she worked as a clinician/program manager at a residential treatment facility and served children with severe emotional disturbances.

Joey Ulrich '96 Rider was awarded a 2006 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science. Among 93 recipients, she was the only educator from Pennsylvania to receive the award. She spent a week in Washington in May attending seminars sponsored by the National Science Foundation, which administers the awards.
