Dear Friends,
There are great stories to be told among the 1,930 students and 400 faculty and staff at Susquehanna University. This issue highlights the personal journeys of three wonderful students along with two distinguished members of the faculty. I hope you enjoy their stories and that their achievements will bolster your pride in Susquehanna.
In biology major Daisy Conduah ’06, music education major Martha Fuchs ’06 and accounting major Michael Ozlanski ’05, you will have the opportunity to read about their experiences and how SU has changed their lives. Through their academic study and co-curricular activities, each lives the mission of achievement, leadership and service that we aim for all students to embrace during their four years here.
Matthew Persons, winner of the John C. Horn Distinguished Service Award, is a widely recognized expert on behavior of the wolf spider, and he enthusiastically involves students in his ongoing research. Michele DeMary, who won the 2004 University Teaching Award, brings a high level of energy and commitment to the students she teaches and advises, and to the continued development of the Arlin M. Adams Center for Law and Society. I consistently hear from our students that their lives are clearly enriched by the opportunity to study and learn with faculty members like Matt and Michele.
Our university’s journey is enriched by Daisy, Martha, Michael, Matt and Michele — they are symbolic of the many great stories that develop at Susquehanna every day. Their experiences are shaped by the support that alumni, friends, board members, and other volunteers provide. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your enthusiastic dedication to Susquehanna University.
Sincerely,

L. Jay Lemons
President
