He had an aura about him that just was so peaceful, accepting and loving. While at SU and since graduating he sent me encouraging and uplifting notes out of no where..... and it always seemed to be when I needed it most. Rest in peacePadre - you will be missed but your presence will always be with me. I will never forget how he wrote me a personal letter after getting accepted to SU, how he took me out to dinner within the first week of my freshman year, and how he prayed and supported me during several difficult times. He was truly a wonderful man with a heart and spirit of gold. May he meet God in heaven and know how much he was loved and how he will be missed.Rest in peace, Padre. My husband, Gary, and I were married by our beloved pastor in 1963 in Silver Spring, Md. We remained great friends for many years, even after we moved into a different church and ministry. We loved him very much and were privileged to pray with him on occasion. Soon after Pastor and Mrs. Shaheen moved to the Silver Spring area, I became good friends with his son David. My father always kept me up to date on the Shaheens because we had to move around in our ministry. What a wonderful Lord we serve Who would give such a loving and caring pastor during the growing up years. His kindnesses to me cannot be forgotten. When I heard Pastor Shaheen had been moved from the church militant to the church triumphant, I praised my Lord. An era has closed in my life. Soon we will all see the glory of the Lord together!Serving Him Whom we love dearly, Carolyn Dant |
