Herman G. Stuempfle '45 was honored with the establishment of the Herman G. Stuempfle Chair of Proclamation of the Word at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He had served as a professor of homiletics, dean and president of the seminary.

1958

Robert C. White, Jr. '58 was appointed to the voice faculty of the Juilliard School of Music, effective September 2006. He retired from Queens College in 1998 after 31 years as professor of music. Since retirement, he has served as an adjunct professor at New York University and Mannes College of Music and has been an affiliate teacher with the Lindemann Young Artists' Development Program of the Metropolitan Opera.

James Brasted '59, retired professor of political science at Kutztown University, illustrated his wife's recently-published children's book, They Call Me Mommy: The Tale of an Eastern Gray Squirrel, by Bonnie Lee Strunk. The book, available through major booksellers, encourages good stewardship of the earth and compassion for the creatures who share it with us. Jim and his wife live in Allentown, Pa.

Gene Witiak '59 authored a book titled True Confessions of a Veterinarian: An Unconditional Love Story. Stories of the bond between the veterinarian, client and pet take the reader into the exam room and on house calls to experience the laughable calamities, miscues and surprises as well as the personal sorrows, revelations and joys that treating animals can bring.
