Shari Trembulak '93 Mangels, Alumni Director

Dear Alumni,

Alumni Weekend 2004 was a great success, despite the rainy weather. The Classes ending in a ‘4’ and ‘9’ came back in full force along with men’s and women’s track alumni and physics majors for two special reunions. Here’s who came back:

Reunion Attendance Percentage of Class
1954 32 36%
1959 16 16%
1964 21 11%
1969 19 8%
1974 35 12%
1979 56 21%
1984 40 13%
1989 7 3%
1994 20 7%
Track 93 alumni
Physics 7 alumni

Campus was bustling with almost 700 people throughout the weekend! We hope you enjoyed your time on campus as much as we enjoyed having you back. Alumni Weekend 2005 is scheduled for June 3-5.

The Online Alumni Community is also busy. Matt Davis ’03 won a $100 Susquehanna bookstore gift certificate for being our 4000th registered user! Kimberlee Gorman ’88 Pizzirusso registered an hour after Matt, making her the 4001st user. Because she was so close she will receive a $25 gift certificate. Thank you to all our registered alumni for making our community one of the best. The end of June we redesigned the site making it easier to navigate and more user friendly. It is also more eye appealing with many photos, especially in our new photo album feature. If you’re not registered go to www.sualum.com to register today!

Save the date for Career Day 2005, February 12. Last year’s Career Day was a huge success so we wanted to keep the momentum going with this second annual event. If you are interested in helping us that day please let me know. For more information on Career Day see the ad on page 25.

Lastly I’d like to say a couple thank yous. First, thank you to Gwenn Wells! As editor of the magazine for the past 13 years, Gwenn has been influential in taking SU Today from a black and white tabloid to this current sleeker four-color format. She has moved to New England with her husband and we all wish her well. Please join me in welcoming Paul Novack to Susquehanna. Paul has stepped into the editor position and we will all look forward to his vision for this magazine.

I would also like to thank Debbie Davies ’04 for all her hard work in the Alumni Office. Debbie came to us in the spring semester of her senior year as an intern and stayed with us through June. She was a great help, planning many reunions and other aspects of Alumni Weekend. We wish you the best, Debbie!

I hope you have all had a wonderful summer! See you at Homecoming, September 10-12!

    All the best,
   Shari A. Trembulak ’93 Mangels
