Ruth Williamson ’36 Kelly, Davidsville, Pa., May 21, 2006. She was a full-time social studies teacher and part-time substitute teacher for the Conemaugh Township Area School District. She is survived by sisters Evelyn Williamson ’43 Matthews and Dorothy Williamson ’43 Adams and cousin Rita Williamson ’57 Neago.

Leonard Najaka ’36, Glen Lyon, Pa., March 31, 2006. He was employed as a secondary school teacher in Newport Township School District and also employed by Public Utilities Commission in Harrisburg as a rates and research analyst until his retirement in 1980. He served in the U. S. Army in the 94th Coastal Artillery (A.A.) from 1942 to 1945.

Anna Hall ’40 Groce, Westhampton, N.Y., Feb. 4, 2006. She was a leader in the Selinsgrove community and involved in many clubs and organizations, including Alpha Delta Phi, Rainbow Girls, and Eastern Star. A buyer for Bowman’s Department Store in Sunbury in the 1960s, she and her late husband, Homer Groce ’40, moved to the Washington, D.C., area, where she developed and owned children’s clothing stores. She is survived by her brother, James L. Hill ’56, and daughter, Barbara Groce ’63 Ward.

Ralph E. Wolfgang ’42, Catawissa, Pa., May 15, 2006. He was a clarinetist and conductor of the Catawissa Military Band and was the principal clarinetist of the Bloomsburg University College-Community Orchestra. His teaching began at Catawissa in 1946 and ended with retirement in 1980 from Southern Columbia schools, earning a master’s degree in music education at Ithaca College along the way in the early 1950s.

George W. Phillips ’50, Millersburg, Pa., Nov. 24, 2005. He was retired from Westinghouse Manufacturing as an accountant. He served in the U.S. Army as a private in World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge in General Patton’s III Army.

John R. Steiger ’51, Wilton, Conn., Feb. 26, 2006. He was a retired executive with Richardson-Vicks and Proctor and Gamble, having specialized in international finance. He was an avid tennis player and long-time member of the Lake Club in New Canaan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Lois Gordon ’52 Steiger.

Orville W. Glass Jr. ’53, Mechanicsburg, Pa., March 25, 2006. He had worked as an accountant at AMP Incorporated in Harrisburg, Pa., for 40 years, until his retirement in 1996. He is survived by his daughters Joy Glass ’81 Santo and Kim Glass ’80 Hannigan.

Paul Nestler ’53, Green Lane, Pa., Jan. 27, 2006. He was the owner and president of Green Lane Hosiery Company Inc. for the past 32 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a lieutenant during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, June J. Nestler; daughter, Christel Nestler ’90 Meyerle; sons Dr. Eric M. Nestler '86 and Paul R. Nestler III; and a sister, Helene Nestler '56.

Barbara Griesbacher ’66 Genszler, Oct. 6, 2005. She was a retired mathematics and business teacher, having worked at Lutheran High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She received an accounting certificate from Marietta College.

Eric N. Stein ’69, Baltimore, Md., March 31, 2006. He was the chief financial officer of Macro International Inc. He was a certified public accountant and a licensed pilot. He created the Eric N. Stein Fund for International Experience at Susquehanna. This fund provides business internships abroad for students enrolled in the Sigmund Weis School of Business.

Robert Cole ’73, Oklahoma City, Okla., Jan. 26, 2006. He was a practicing attorney in Oklahoma City until his death.

Harold James (Jim) Dippre ’78, Moscow, Pa., March 22, 2005. He was employed by the Pennsylvania State Liquor Control Board as the manager of the Green Ridge Wine and Spirits Store and was a member of the I.S.S.U. Lackawanna Chapter of the Manager’s Union. He was a member of the PHCM organization and a member of the Moscow Masonic Lodge #504. At Susquehanna, he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Kristin Meinig ’88 Bean, Lower Heidelberg Township, Pa., March 19, 2006. She had been employed by the American Red Cross, and CIGNA Insurance in Allentown, and served as manager of Mount Zion Cemetery in Pottstown. Most recently, she had served as an assistant at Green Tree Cemetery, Cumru Township, and headed gardening operations for Bean Funeral Homes Inc.

Rosine Krahmer, Charlotte, N.C., June 12, 2006. She was a cataloger in the Susquehanna library from 1960 – 1970 and was the widow of Alfred Krahmer, Lutheran minister and head librarian at Susquehanna during the same period.

George R.F. Tamke, Lewisburg, Pa., May 30, 2006. He was an editor and publishing designer who served as assistant to the university president at Susquehanna for three administrations. He was a World War II veteran of the 9th Air Force Service Command in the European Theater, serving in England, France and Belgium. He was in the publishing business in suburban Philadelphia for seven years, and for three years was associate director and editor-artist of the Lutheran Laymen’s Movement and Stewardship Department of the United Lutheran Church in America in New York City. He also did freelance work in the graphic arts, editing/writing and sculpture. In 1959, he became the public relations director at Susquehanna University and was named assistant to the president four years later. In this role, he served under Presidents Gustave Weber, Jonathan Messerli, and Joel Cunningham as the chief public relations officer, editor and designer of university publications and producer of special events. He received several awards for publications and design. In recognition of his service, he became only one of four non-graduates of Susquehanna to receive the university alumni award.
