Frances T. Davis '30, Williamsport, Pa., Jan. 7, 2007. She taught English and was a guidance counselor at South Williamsport High School, Emerson High School and Ridgefield Park High School in Bergen County, N.J. from 1930 to 1972. She is survived by Mary Davis '59 Heisey.

Ethlynne Miller '31 Schultz, Connellsville, Pa., Jan. 19, 2007. She taught in the South Connellsville schools. She retired in 1975.

Martin Graykoskie '33, Kulpmont, Pa., April 23, 2007. He taught for many years in the Coal Township school system and the Shamokin School District.

Josephine Hoy '33 Lamb, Toms River, N.J., April 1, 2007. She was a music specialist in the Livingston Schools, where she taught for more than 20 years, retiring to Holiday City in Toms River. She is survived by her daughter, Leilani Lamb '61 Brenner.

Beatrice Shively '34 Aumiller, Lewisburg, Pa., April 22, 2007.

Alfarata Stamets '35, Harrisburg, Pa., Jan. 29, 2007. Her teaching career in high school English spanned 35 years in Lower Paxton High School, Central Dauphin High School and Central Dauphin East High School. For 10 years after leaving teaching, she worked with J.E. Caldwell Jewelers in the East Mall. After college she became involved in Luther League and was president of the local league, the Harrisburg District and then the Luther League of the Central Pennsylvania Synod. She spent 17 years at Nawakwa Camp as a camp counselor and teacher.

Robert A. Boyer '38, Wyomissing, Pa., Jan. 30, 2007. He was a former chairman and professor of the physics department at Muhlenberg College. He received an achievement in life award from Susquehanna University and was included in the 46th edition of Who's Who in America.

Mathilde Albury '40 Smith, Darien and Martha's Vineyard, Mass., Jan. 8, 2007. She had worked as supervisor of the Garwood, N.J. Schools' music department and was accomplished on both the cello and piano. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, the international fraternity of music students and musicians, and was honored in Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges.

Elizabeth Reese '41 McGhee, Windber, Pa., Nov. 22, 2006.

Forrest F. Heckert '42, Millersburg, Pa., March 2, 2007. He taught school at Milton Hershey High School. He retired from the former Swiss Bank in New York City. He also had worked at the former Heckert's Food Market in Millersburg. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in England, France and Okinawa.

Marion V. Crow '43, Pittsburgh, Pa., March 25, 2007.

Herman G. Stuempfle '45, Gettysburg, Pa., March 13, 2007. He was a Lutheran church leader best known as the president of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He served as professor, dean and president for a total of 27 years, and was known for his contributions as a preacher, professor, president and poet. He is the author of several books and numerous articles and lectures on preaching, history and theology. He is also a respected hymn writer of four volumes of hymns.

Thomas R. Davis '49, Weymouth Township, N.J., Feb. 7, 2007. He served in the 8th U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in the 331st Bomb Squadron as a gunner on a B-17. He worked for Westinghouse for 35 years and for Harrah's for 12 years.

Charles R. Wian '49, Virginia Beach, Va., April 27, 2007. He was retired as an electronics engineer and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Harold C. Zimmerman '49, Lewisburg, Pa., March 27, 2007. He worked in the family business and at the Westinghouse defense plant in Sunbury, Pa., before volunteering for service in World War II. His decorations included the Bronze Star for heroic action in combat. He had been the senior merchandise manager at Pomeroy's Allied Stores Corp, and worked for Butter-Krust Baking Co. from 1962 until his retirement as general sales manager in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Joan Apple '48 Zimmerman and his niece, Sherri Apple '82 Uehling.

Edward F. Pfeiffer '50, Northumberland, Pa., May 25, 2007. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He served as Susquehanna's assistant basketball coach and then head basketball coach from 1950 to 1957. In 1951, he bought the Colt Insurance Agency and incorporated it into the Pfeiffer Insurance Agency. At the time of his death, he worked as an independent agent for the Purdy Insurance Agency in Sunbury and the Pfeiffer-Naginey Insurance Agency in Northumberland. He is survived by his brother, Conrad Pfeiffer '52, and two nephews, Brent Pfeiffer '81 and Brian Pfeiffer '81.

Fancher E. Wolfe '51, Minnetonka, Minn., April 19, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. During his early years in Minnesota, he worked at Pillsbury and IDS as a market researcher, but later he found his true calling as a teacher of mathematics, economics and statistics. He was a professor emeritus at Metropolitan State University in the department of mathematics, having taught there from 1975 to 2001. He received the University's Excellence in Teaching Award during the 1991-92 academic year. He earned his 20-year AA Medallion on Dec. 16, 2006.

Charles L. Bomboy '52, Allentown, Pa., Feb. 18, 2007. He was ordained in 1955 by the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. He served as pastor of the Castaner-Farranosville Evangelical United Brethren Church and Ashley Presbyterian Church. He last served Westminster Presbyterian Church in Phillipsburg, N.J. from 1966 until his retirement in 1997.

George F. Snyder '52, Murrells Inlet, S.C., Jan. 16, 2007.

Patricia A. Walker '57, Phoenixville, Pa., Jan. 19, 2007. She taught elementary school in the West Chester, Pa., area.

Gilbert G. Bannerman '58, Snohomish, Wash., March 23, 2007. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Navy (SEABEE) Mobile Construction Battalion 3. He worked as a savings and loan executive and corporate secretary with the First Federal Savings and Loan of Lake Worth, Fla. and then in mortgage banking, property management, and real estate. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Vastine '59 Bannerman.

Larry W. Starner '63, Shippensburg, Pa., Jan. 30, 2007. He worked as a Harrisburg City firefighter for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 1992. He was elected mayor of Lower Township and served from 1997 until 2004.

Gary H. Manifold '68, Bel Air, Md., April 3, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in Okinawa and stateside. During his career, he worked for Johnson & Johnson, Lukens Steele, Superior Tube, Penn Dairies and Aberdeen Proving Ground before retiring in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Linda Metzel '70 Manifold.

Keith Gaugler '70, Middleburg, Pa., Nov. 8, 2006.

William H. McCard '74, Yardley, Pa., Jan. 31, 2007. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. He started his own business, Specialty Products, in 1981. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Thomas '74 McCard.

Priscilla Niigambo '94 Nashandi, Oranjemund, Namibia. She is survived by her husband, Juno Nashandi '93.
