Ruth Bond '24 Steininger celebrated her 95th birthday in July with her family. She taught in Dubois, Wilmerding and Knoch High School from which she retired in 1969. She directed church choirs and taught Sunday school classes in Monessen, Pitcairn, Spring Hill and Grace Lutheran Church in Butler, Pa., where she is a member. 1932
The Rev. Lewis R. Fox '32 celebrated his 65th anniversary of his ordination as a Lutheran pastor. Following the completion of his studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, Fox spent two years as a missionary in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He then returned to Erie, Pa., to pastor Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, where he remained for 10 years. In 1946, he moved to Knox and served the Knox parish until his retirement in 1976. He has been active in many civic and church organizations. 1936

Class Reporter: The Rev. Herman G. Stuempfle '44 was admitted to the Academic Hall of Fame of Hughesville High School. He graduated from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, S.T.M. Union Theological Seminary in New York, and Southern California School of Theology at Claremont. His professional life has included pastor from 1950 through 1959. He was associate director of social action, board of social missions, United Lutheran Church in America, and professor of preaching, Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, where he served as dean and president from 1977 until his retirement in 1989. He has written numerous publications. 1945

Janet Rohrbach '46 Robinson attended the triennial convention of Sigma Alpha Iota, international music fraternity, in Dallas, Texas, August 3 to 8, 2000. She served as chairman of the nominating committee from whose roster was chosen the officers who will serve until 2003 - the centennial of SAI. Janet was initiated by Sigma Omega at Susquehanna in 1943. Her husband, Dr. Lavan Robinson, former faculty at Susquehanna, is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia governor for province 36, and in that capacity attended the convention in Dallas, Texas, August 8 to 13, 2000. Lavan received the Robert J. Rogers Lifetime Service Award and a plaque signed by the national fraternity president. On the citation: "Presented to Lavan R. Robinson for his years of service to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia as a College Member, Chapter Advisor, Province Governor and Mentor; for providing leadership, encouragement, inspiration, and counsel to generations of Sinfonians; and for his countless contributions to Brotherhood and Music." 1948

Fancher E. Wolfe '51 was awarded a Ph.D. degree in adult mathematics education from the University of Minnesota. He is a professor of statistics at Metropolitan State University, Minneapolis Minn., where he has been on the faculty since 1975. 1953
Margretta Thomas '53 Bailey retired as librarian in the Williamsport School District. She lives in Williamsport, Pa. 1954

Evelyn Herbstrith '56 Ruffing continues to teach German at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., as an on-site instructor for local companies. Other activities include director of Derry Area Historical Society, president of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ligonier Valley, Nationality Room Committee for the Swiss at the University of Pittsburgh, Swiss-American Society of Pittsburgh, and the Scandinavian Society of Western Pennsylvania. She lives in Loyalhanna, Pa. 1957
