The Susquehanna University Ultimate Frisbee Team has developed through a series of stages over the past few years. This is how the story goes:

In the beginning, a wizard named Dylan came to a ripe grove of grass along the Susquehanna River. This was a miraculous dream child. The wizard was able to throw discs across large expanses with a single, beautiful snap of his wrist. His accurate chucks and powerful flicks graced the farmlands of Selinsgrove. The magic he possessed is demonstrated the most with his unimaginable disc toss with his big toe. However, the wizard was not alone.

He recruited followers to his addiction. These followers were not nearly as skilled with handling such round flying objects, but they could run. And run they did for they had to chase down the long throws of Dylan. And soon enough, these runners began to realize they too could throw the disc and have it soar through the air. First, it would fly like a duck tumbling bleakly into the starry night. But as time passed and the leaves changed, these individuals improved.

These lovely runners and the dream child were content with the enjoyment obtained within the reigns of Selinsgrove. Then along came a spider. The spider came along the patchy greens along the Susquehanna River as a young boy. However, this young boy had a big heart and a big head. He was the best and he knew it. He turned the naked runners-throwers into a group of knights riding to victory. The knights lacked autonomy at the start because they were not good. But the spider took these knights to many jousting tournaments where they learned the agony of defeat. And defeat is what we did best. For awhile. . .

The spider soon made a web. He got caught in his own web and squandered in his own defeat. Wrapped up in his own self-mummification, the spider was taken far, far away only to hear of the wonderful tales his knights are now accomplishing. The knights formed an even stronger group when the spider left. They gained support from new apprentices who learned quickly the trade of the disc. The knights honored their apprentices by unleashing their power in the jousting fights that they will soon be able to conquer single-handedly.

Future apprentices will be taught of this addiction for many years. They will develop into knights like never before along the banks of the sunny Susquehanna River on the same spot that the miraculous wizard, Dylan once stood. This wizard has been known to appear out of the foggy midst of the river to demonstrate the magic that he has mastered from time to time. Only the few lucky have been able to witness his presence. Maybe you can be one of the chosen ones. . .

This is how the story goes. If you do not believe me, ask any of the chosen ones who have witnessed the wizard Dylan and his magical dances.
