Overview of Project House System
Fifteen student-initiated projects involving community service comprise the Susquehanna University Project House System. Each project is a student undertaking which involves ten or more individuals who each commit their time each week. Since 1976, over 315,900 hours of service have been volunteered in response to the needs on campus and in the surrounding communities. The Project House System is available to any S.U. student with a 2.0 GPA or better. Every year all projects undergo a formal selection, which includes a written proposal and a group interview. Successfully selected groups become recognized organizations and then are able to apply for university-owned houses or Seibert Hall, an elegantly restored building that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The combination of group living and a commitment to community service provides the type of learning experience that allows students to grow and develop.
