Avoiding Hexadecimal
When dealing with colors on a Web page, it's very hard to avoid the somewhat cryptic hexadecimal numbering system. For those of you who don't want to punch the numbers to come up with the hexadecimal color values, there is some relief. Listed below are the names of the 16 base colors that both Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer recognize, which can be used instead of the hexadecimal color code.
In addition to the 16 base colors supported across various platforms and browsers, there are many other colors that can be used on the Internet. There is no guarantee, however, that all browsers and platforms will view these colors the same way. For your reference, a listing is provided here.
