Page Guidelines: Backgrounds
Susquehanna University has generally adopted light colored backgrounds or designs for web pages. Light colors are easy and pleasing to the eyes. The use of dark colors, such as black and maroon, or bright colors, such as red and yellow, are not encouraged.
The recommended background for university pages is solid white.
To use white as your page background, copy the the red HTML code below it into the <BODY> tag of your web pages.
Alternative background colors and designs can also be used within reason. When choosing an alternative background, be sure that all text and other elements don't become hidden or hard to read. As a rule of thumb, a darker background color requires a lighter text color and a lighter background requires a darker text color. It is very important that your background color or design does not distract from the information or make it hard for the viewer to read the information you are presenting. Note that black (000000) is not to be used as a background color.
