“I’ve learned that art has the power and ability to say something about the world that no other form of human communication can embody.” -Teresa Hernandez ‘04

Student Writers Series

The Student Writers Series includes both Publication Readings, where contributors to Susquehanna's magazines may read their work that has been published in the magazines, and Senior Readings, where senior writing majors read from their chapbooks in front of an audience of faculty and peers as a part of their final year at Susquehanna.

These events are open to the public. We welcome your attendance and encourage you to support the students and the writing program at Susquehanna.

Robert Boswell, novelist & short story writer, speaks with fiction writing students during his one-week residency, 2004

Phil Moyer, '06, reads at the publication reading of Essay

"The writing program has been most valuable because of the unique chance to earn a degree in Creative Writing while learning through workshops and one-on-one meetings with living, breathing published authors, who are not only respected by their literary peers but also effective teachers respected by their students. The faculty was enthusiastic about sharing the breadth of their experiences with me, teaching me not just how to write, but also the ins and outs of getting published, getting into graduate school, and the inner workings of editing and publishing several campus literary magazines. Combined with the presence of almost a hundred of my peers in the writing major, this made for a true "community of writers" experience that I don't think I could have found anywhere else." -Zach Macholz '06
