The art exhibition Closeup II: Nine Contemporary Cuban Artists will open with a reception in Susquehanna University’s Lore Degenstein Gallery from 7-9 p.m. on Sept. 2.
The reception includes a lecture by artist and exhibition curator Alberto Jorge Carol. Other featured artists include Ivonne Ferrer, Lia Galletti, Victor Gómez, Rafael López-Ramos, Aldo Menéndez, Heriberto Mora, Ismael Gómez Peralta and Aimee Pérez.
“This exhibition is evidence of the professional pledge of a group of Miami-based artists of Cuban origin to create art true to themselves,” said artist and exhibition curator Alberto Jorge Carol. “Through diverse conceptual and formal approaches, not only do they reap the yields of experience and experimentation, they also offer insightful testimonies of the human spirit and its bustling enterprises in the turbulent settings of our time.”
The Lore Degenstein Gallery, located in the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center, is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed for university recesses; call 570-372-4059 for an appointment when classes are not in session.
The exhibition continues through Oct. 8. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
