Like many of our accounting graduates, Cameron Dougherty ’14 knew a job was waiting for him as he donned his graduation cap and gown.

Dougherty went right to work at Deloitte in Philadelphia and within a few months, he’d passed his CPA exam. At most schools, it takes five years and a master’s degree to fulfill the 150-hour requirement for the CPA exam.

Today, he is a Workday Financial consultant who travels the country helping clients change the way they manage their finances.

“It’s been a fun change of pace,” Dougherty says of his new position.

“Susquehanna definitely gave me this opportunity. It taught me that I am truly the author of my own life story. SU provided the tools, the facilities and the guidance. All I needed to do was go for it!” he adds.

Dougherty was initially drawn to Susquehanna because of the AACSB-accredited business school-but he also just felt at home.

“As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt like I belonged here, and couldn’t wait to be a part of everything that was going on,” he says.

Dougherty joined the ice hockey club, the Student Government Association and more, and he later served as a student representative on our Board of Trustees and president of the Enactus team.

“My involvement differentiated me by showing that I have various, valuable skills in managing a group, public speaking and organizing events,” he says. “These experiences paid off in terms of a full-time job with Deloitte right after graduation.”
