Carly Rogers ’20 has been able to add NASH FM, Little League International, ESPN, Fox Sports Radio and Benztown Radio to her resume — all before her senior year.

Rogers, a communications studies major with sports media and film minors, has worked on video and sound editing in each of these positions. She has been on the sidelines of a Penn State football game versus rival Ohio State, worked with Jack Diamond and his morning crew for their Washington, D.C., radio show and edited games for the Williamsport Crosscutters baseball team.

Working at Benztown — an international radio imaging, production library, programming, jingles and voiceover services company — Rogers gained an understanding of what it’s like to host a morning talk show for a larger station and how to get viewer interaction. Rogers also spent her summer in Nashville under an internship for NASH FM.

“I was very prepared for the work load that I was given while there and had a general idea of everything they were showing me there from the classes and preparation I received at Susquehanna” she says.

“What I enjoy most about my work and my major is being able to express my own creativity in the work I do and how much fun I have doing it,” she says.

Rogers is also the music director at Susquehanna’s on-campus radio station WQSU, and she credits that for giving her many opportunities in the radio business as well.

“A goal I have in broadcasting is to make a name for myself and to be the best version of myself with experiences I learn from,” she says.

“At SU I have been able to get myself involved in as many programs and organizations as possible so that I am more prepared for the real world after school” she says.
