Hundreds of alumni and their families will return to Susquehanna University and the borough of Selinsgrove Oct. 20-22 for Homecoming-Reunion Weekend 2017.

This year’s theme, Get Your Groove on at “Greenstock,” is in honor of Susquehanna’s new president, the musically talented Jonathan D. Green.

Homecoming festivities kick off Friday, Oct. 20, with Green’s inauguration. He will be officially installed as Susquehanna’s 15th president at a 2 p.m. ceremony in Weber Chapel Auditorium. Nearly 100 delegates from learned and professional societies, and colleges and universities throughout the country will take part in the academic procession. Students representing about 90 different campus organizations will also participate.

Green’s inaugural address, The New American Scholar, will examine the evolution and significance of liberal arts education in producing citizen leaders. Beginning with Ralph Waldo Emerson’s 1837 address, The American Scholar, Green will also address the challenges liberal arts institutions and students face today, and their mission moving forward.

Reunion Central will host “Greenstock” on Smith Lawn Saturday, Oct. 21, a day of live entertainment. Live music begins at 2 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. with the SU Jazz Band, Faculty Lounge, and Spencer and the T-Bones. Headliner Green Eggs takes the stage at 8 p.m.
