Nobuntu, a female a capella quintet from Zimbabwe, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the Degenstein Center Theater on the campus of Susquehanna University.

Nobuntu has drawn international recognition for its broad and inventive performances that range from afro jazz and gospel to traditional Zimbabwean songs. The group performs with pure voices, augmented only by minimalist percussion, traditional instrumentation and dance movements.

The ensemble was nominated for Best Musician of the Year at the 2015 Zimbabwe International Women Awards, and has performed in many locations throughout Africa and Europe. The quintet’s belief is that music can be an important vehicle for change, and one that transcends racial, tribal, religious, gender and economic boundaries.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $5 for non-Susquehanna students. Tickets can be purchased in the box office located in the Degenstein Center Theater lobby Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., or by calling 570-372-ARTS (2787).

This performance is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
