Dear Friends:

The pandemic has affirmed the advantages of residential learning in a higher education community. While our faculty, staff, and students created remarkably rich learning opportunities across our curriculum, we were reminded of how much richer those experiences are when we are together.

To that end, we intend to return to fully in-person instruction for fall of 2021 without a remote option. We need to be sure to take advantage of all the new opportunities technology and human initiative have made available; nonetheless, we will maximize in-person learning and residential experiences for our students.

We are committed to guaranteeing housing for all students. Residence halls will return to regular occupancy. Likewise, we anticipate athletics returning to a full intercollegiate schedule. All practices and competitions will adhere to NCAA and Landmark or Centennial Conference guidelines.

In accordance with U.S. State Department guidelines and host-country protocols, travel will resume for GO programs as well.

As has been the case throughout the pandemic, our planning and decision making will continue to focus on the health and safety of our students and employees, and we recognize that the realities of the pandemic in the fall may require us to adjust those plans. It is our expectation that most members of our campus community will have been vaccinated by the time we begin the fall semester, allowing us to return to fully in-person instruction, which is a hallmark of a Susquehanna education.

In the meantime, and throughout our transition to being fully on campus in the fall, we are here for our students’ and employees’ health and wellbeing. Please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance we can provide.

Yours ever,
Jonathan Green
