Professor Olugbenga A. Onafowora is a graduate of the University of Ife in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and received his master of science and Ph.D. from West Virginia University, Morgantown.

He has been a professor in the economics department at Susquehanna University since the fall of 1989 and has served as department chair since 2010. He also has been a visiting professor at Rutgers University.

Professor Onafowora is the recipient of numerous awards including the John C. Horn Distinguished Service Lectureship from Susquehanna University for scholarly endeavor and service to the university and the best paper award from the 2004 European Applied Business Research Conference.

He has served as a consultant for Rutgers University Food Policy Institute, the City of Harrisburg Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Policy Research Initiative and the Center for Urban Policy Research (CUPR).

His scholarly and teaching expertise is in principles of macroeconomics and microeconomics, intermediate microeconomics, labor economics, economic development, public finance, third world economics and managerial economics. Professor Onafowora has published more than 40 scholarly articles and has presented more than 50 conference papers at international, national and regional conferences in disciplinary and interdisciplinary combinations of these areas.
