Graduating Students Happy Hour

Degenstein Campus Center Patio, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
President and Mrs. Jay Lemons invite all graduating students to a Happy Hour reception in celebration of commencement and to welcome graduates as members of the alumni Class of 2017. Dress is business casual. Registration is required.

Cap and Gown Distribution

Benjamin Apple Meeting Rooms 1 - 5, Degenstein Campus Center, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Luncheon for Graduates (Students Only)

Evert Dining Room, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
This occasion for graduating students honors all members of the Class of 2017 and recognizes the winners of departmental, divisional and school awards for academic achievement; Honors Program graduates; and recipients of graduate fellowships and assistantships.

Business formal attire is requested. This is the contract meal of the day for graduates; those choosing not to attend will receive a box lunch. Registration is required.


Commencement and Baccalaureate Rehearsal

Weber Chapel Auditorium, Garrett Sports Complex and Fieldhouse, 2 - 3:30 p.m. 
All graduates are expected to attend this practice unless specifically excused by Faculty Marshal Catherine Hastings, Ph.D. Graduates will meet at Weber Chapel Auditorium.

Hike with President Lemons to Mount Mahanoy

Tuesday, May 16, 10 a.m.

Buses leave at 10 a.m. from Weber. Registration required by May 11 so that we know how many buses are necessary.

The hike is very strenuous so wear good hiking shoes-no flip flops!

Concerns about whether your health/physical condition will allow you to participate? Please contact Betsy Magill, Director of Health Services, at magill@susqu.edu or ext. 4386 for advice.

Lunch will be provided to all participants upon reaching the top of Mount Mahanoy.


Baccalaureate Service

Smith Lawn, 8 - 9 p.m.

Parents, families and guests are invited to attend this festive service of praise and thanksgiving. Chaplain Scott M. Kershner will officiate.

In a new format this year, Baccalaureate is a celebration of gratitude for the gifts of education, learning and service—including special music, reflections, and readings. After the service, please join us at the post-Baccalaureate Celebration in Degenstein Campus Center.


Baccalaureate Dinner (optional)

Evert Dining Room, Degenstein Campus Center, 5 - 7:30 p.m. 

The first seating will be from 5 - 6:15 p.m. and the second seating will be from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m.

The menus will consist of a buffet of assorted hot and cold entrees, salad station and desserts. Adult tickets are $14.15 and children $8.75. Graduates will receive a complimentary ticket; however, they must pick up their complimentary ticket to reserve their seat.

For reservations, payments and questions, contact Michelle Harman at 570-372-4228 or harman@susqu.edu. Tickets will be available during senior week in the Dining Hall Office once payment is received.


Post-Baccalaureate Celebration

Degenstein Campus Center, 9 - 11:30 p.m.

Commencement Brunch (optional)

Evert Dining Room, Degenstein Campus Center, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The first seating will be from 9:30-11 a.m. and the second seating will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The menu will consist of a buffet of assorted hot and cold entrees, salad station and desserts. Adult tickets are $13.50 each and tickets for children ages 6 through 12 are $8.25 Graduates will receive a complementary ticket; however, they must pick up their complimentary ticket to reserve their seat.

Commencement

Field House Garrett Sports Complex, 1 p.m.

Students need to line up in full regalia at 12:30 p.m. on Kurtz Lane or inside O.W. Houts Gym in case of rain.

There will be ample seating in the air-conditioned field house for families and guests, so tickets will not be required. The ceremony also will be covered on a live, large-screen videocast in the Degenstein Center Theater.

Commencement will be broadcast live at www.susqu.edu/commencement.

Seating is not reserved and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To provide equal access to the seating for all guests, we ask that families not reserve seats.


Post-Commencement Reception

Campus Center Terrace (Rain Location: Evert Dining Room), 2:30 p.m. (approximately)
