Conductor and Music Director Kevin Noe to Perform
Susquehanna University

February 08, 2018

Kevin Noe, music director of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, returns to Susquehanna University for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Since its founding in 1976, the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble has performed the world premieres of almost 300 works, and Noe himself has commissioned more than 50 new works in the last 10 years. In addition to his work in Pittsburgh, Noe is professor of conducting and director of orchestras at Michigan State University.

Noe will spend a week on campus from Feb. 19-23 as a part of the university's 2017-18 Martha Barker Blessing Musicians-in-Residence Series. While on campus, Noe will provide additional instruction to Susquehanna's student musicians.

Established by Martha "Marty" Blessing, an alumna and former 40-year employee of the university, the musicians-in-residence series brings four preeminent musicians to campus each year for a series of workshops, master classes and public performances. Blessing is the widow of the late James Blessing, a beloved professor of political science at Susquehanna University.
