Forbes business magazine named Susquehanna University one of America's 300 Best Value Colleges, in a report released April 26.
The Forbes 2017 Best Value College ranking indexes 300 schools that deliver the best bang for the tuition buck based on tuition costs, school quality, postgraduate earnings, student debt and graduation success.
The list uses data collected from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard as well as PayScale, the world's largest salary database.
"Financing college is one of the most important investments a family will make, so I am delighted that Forbes has recognized Susquehanna's exceptional educational value," said Madeleine Rhyneer, vice president for enrollment and marketing. "In addition to critical thinking, writing, teamwork and communication skills our students receive, 90 percent have a professional internship, practicum or research experience in their field of study, and 100 percent study outside of their own culture. All of this contributes to the uncommon professional success our graduates achieve."
To help families discern what schools offer the best value for the dollar, Forbes partnered with the Center for College Affordability and Productivity. The center gathered data in five general categories using these weights and formula: quality (25%) + drop-out risk (10%) + student debt (20%) + graduation time (15%) + alumni salaries (20%) + Pell Grant recipients (10%) / gross tuition and fees.
