Four Qualify for National Business Pitch Competition

A team of four students was named among the top 25 finalists to participate in the largest undergraduate business pitch competition in the U.S.

This is the second consecutive year Susquehanna has sent a team of students to compete in e-Fest and the Schulze Entrepreneurship Challenge, held April 11-13 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Courtney Young '19, a strategic communications and public relations major from Newport, Pennsylvania; Hannah Witt '19, a business administration major from Robbinsville, New Jersey; Tara Montis '19, a luxury brand marketing and management major from Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and Ali Hordeski '20, a music performance major from Dresher, Pennsylvania, won an all-expenses-paid trip to the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, to the event.

e-Fest is a three-day celebration of undergraduate entrepreneurship, which includes a pitch competition, development workshops and an innovation challenge. Sponsored by the University of St. Thomas and EIX.org, a nonprofit online platform for entrepreneurship education, the event culminates with the Schulze Entrepreneurship Challenge, where students compete for more than $250,000 in cash prizes.

Young, Witt, Montis and Hordeski were selected to compete for their business idea, The Dot, a customizable subscription for feminine-hygiene products with a buy-one-give-one model.

"This is an incredible opportunity for our students to learn from and compete against some of the country's most innovative business students," said Emma Fleck, associate professor of management in Susquehanna's Sigmund Weis School of Business. "I am extremely proud that our students have earned a place at this prestigious event."
