The art exhibition The Quickening Image will open with a reception in Susquehanna University’s Lore Degenstein Gallery from 7-9 p.m. on Sept. 1.

The reception marks the opening of the gallery’s 2018-19 season.

The wax-resist drawings of David Dodge Lewis and Ephraim Rubenstein chronicle a new way to draw.

Wax-resist drawing is a layered, large-scale, mixed-media approach that utilizes wax as a resist for subsequent ink and charcoal washes. It incorporates both wet and dry materials, as well as linear and painterly elements. The process allows for carefully rendered passages alongside more spontaneous and chaotic applications.

The Lore Degenstein Gallery, located in the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center, is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed for university recesses; call 570-372-4059 for an appointment when classes are not in session.

The exhibition continues through Oct. 7. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
