Future Teacher Strives to Make a Difference
MaeLynne Connolly '16

January 16, 2016

Early childhood education major MaeLynne Connolly '16 has known that she wants to work with children since she was a child herself.

"I have always loved school and enjoyed learning," she says.

"My favorite thing about education is the ability to make a difference in someone's life. I want to encourage and support all of my students and help create lifelong learners," she adds.

Connolly hopes to teach third or fourth grade after graduation.

"I want to help my students develop confidence in themselves, foster a love of learning, and teach them other necessary skills that will help them succeed in their future," the Bloomsburg, Pa., native says.

Connolly has enjoyed the flexibility of a Susquehanna education, which has allowed her to both study abroad in Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai, China, and pursue her other passion: music.

"Music has always been an integral part of my life, and I wanted to stay involved with music throughout my college experience," says Connolly, who also minors in music performance with a vocal emphasis.
