My post-Susquehanna life has been going well. I loved my time as an English major at SU. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do after college, but I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in Washington, D.C. Not long after graduation, the Federal Aviation Administration offered me a job as an assistant, and I transitioned to being a technical writer. After that, I took a position as speechwriter within the Department of Transportation. I found speech writing interesting but not technical enough, so late last year, I took a position as an aviation safety analyst with the FAA.
I really enjoy my job, and my position requires a lot of reading and writing which is perfect for me. I was lucky in that I didn't mind starting in area where I had little background or education and working my way to positions that interested me. I'm also pursuing a master's degree in public policy from George Mason University. I've found that my writing skills have helped me immensely in work and in graduate school and I've seen a wealth of job opportunities for people who can write well.
